The Olympus Neuroimaging Symposium and reception will be held at the Marriott Marquis Washington, DC, 901 Massachusetts Avenue NW, in the Capitol and Congress ballrooms. It is open to all media and registered SfN attendees.
Sequenom, Inc., a life sciences company providing innovative genetic analysis solutions, today announced it and its subsidiary Sequenom Center for Molecular Medicine have secured a $30.0 million financing commitment from Silicon Valley Bank's San Diego-based team. Sequenom will use proceeds from the facility to support the development and commercialization of new products and other near term growth initiatives.
Molecularly targeted therapies can reduce tumors rapidly. However, not all tumors respond to the drugs, and even those that do often develop resistance over time. Looking for a way to combat the problem of resistance, researchers at Fox Chase Cancer Center hypothesized that hitting already weakened cancer cells with a second targeted agent could kill them-but only if it was the right second agent.
Two cell types work together to protect pancreatic tumors from destruction by the immune system. But, blocking this partnership may restore the system's ability to attack these same tumor cells.
