Accentia Biopharmaceuticals, Inc. announced that, effective today, the Company and its majority-owned subsidiary, Biovest International, Inc., have both successfully completed their reorganizations. Pursuant to their respective Plans of Reorganization approved by the bankruptcy court, Accentia and Biovest have now formally exited Chapter 11 as fully restructured organizations.
Can an innovative wallpaper-like liner help reduce the number of cases of malaria, and if so, will it be cost effective? Donald S. Shepard, a professor at the Schneider Institutes for Health Policy at the Heller School wants to know. And he has gotten the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to help. A grant, totaling nearly $500,000 over the next three years, will allow Shepard and collaborators to pursue their research in Kenya and Tanzania.
The total amount of opioids dispensed per new opioid prescription decreased by 22 percent in Penn Medicine outpatient practices in New Jersey after the state passed a law limiting prescriptions to a five-day supply for new opioid prescriptions.
An estimated 30.8 million American adults (14.8 percent) meet standard diagnostic criteria for at least one personality disorder as defined in the American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-Fourth Edition (DSM-IV), according to the results of the 2001-2002 National Epidemiologic Survey on Alcohol and Related Conditions (NESARC).
GlaxoSmithKline and Boehringer Ingelheim announced today that the companies have signed a letter of intent for an accelerated development programme for a co-package for Combivir® (lamivudine/zidovudine) and Viramune® (nevirapine) for chronic treatment of HIV infection in the developing world.
