Vanderbilt's Department of Pediatrics, in partnership with Metro Nashville Parks and Recreation, has been awarded a $12 million, seven-year grant from the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) for an ambitious project aimed at stopping obesity in preschoolers before it can take hold.
"New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo said Monday he is expanding an investigation of health-care credit cards by issuing subpoenas to clinics that promote cards from J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. and Citigroup Inc. On Wednesday, Cuomo subpoenaed health care providers that promoted CareCredit, a health-care credit card offered by General Electric Co.'s GE Money" (Witkowski, 8/10).
"While PEPFAR and the Global Health Initiative (GHI) have dominated the global health community's attention over the past few years, the President's Malaria Initiative (PMI) has largely flown under the radar," Rachel Silverman, a research assistant for the Center for Global Development's (CGD) global health team, and Victoria Fan, a research fellow at CGD, write in this post in the CGD's "Rethinking U.S. Foreign Assistance Blog."
An innovative study led by The University of Nottingham is to investigate whether arts and humanities can help improve the mental health and well-being of patients and carers alike.
Inaccessible workplaces, normative departmental cultures and 'ableist' academic systems have all contributed to the continued underrepresentation and exclusion of disabled researchers in the Geosciences, according to an article published today (Thursday 8 June) in Nature Geosciences.
