Emergency medical technicians (EMTs), military medics, and emergency room physicians could one day be better able to treat victims of vehicular accidents, gunshot wounds, and battlefield injuries thanks to a new device under development that may more accurately assess the effects of blood loss due to hemorrhage.
For the first time ever, young adults and the parents of children diagnosed with cancer—and the physicians who treat them—have a comprehensive, bilingual resource to give them critically important guidance about preserving their fertility before and during cancer treatment.
Sedentary time, for example, time spent sitting, increases the risk of death for middle-aged and older people who are frail and inactive, but does not appear to increase the risk for nonfrail people who are inactive, according to a new study published in CMAJ.
Incyte Corporation announced today additional positive results from an ongoing Phase I/II clinical trial for its selective oral sheddase inhibitor, INCB7839, involving 66 patients with HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer during a poster session at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) meeting in Chicago, IL, June 4 to June 8, 2010.
Scientists from the Florida campus of The Scripps Research Institute have found that one of the most widely prescribed pain and anti-inflammation drugs slows the growth rate of a specific kind of cancer in animal models and suggests the medication could have the same effect on other types of tumors.
