Eclipsys Corporation®, The Outcomes Company®, today announced the winners of its 2009 Circle of Excellence Award program.
New research could have an "incredible" impact on the numbers of people being saved through the organ donor system, experts claim today. As demand for organ transplants continues to outstrip supply, a team of scientists from the University of Sunderland are hopeful they may have found a way to expand the donor pool.
Researchers at National Jewish Health have discovered a trigger that induces B cells to produce effective and long-lived antibodies early in the immune response. They found that a molecule that binds toll-like receptors doubles the early antibody response to an antigen, and shifts it to a more effective, IgG form.
Exposure to the endocrine disrupting chemicals bisphenol A, triclosan and phthalates is ubiquitous in the United States, raising concerns that they may affect health. With a new four-year, $1.5 million grant from the National Institutes of Health, Brown University epidemiologist Joseph Braun will try to close a gap in research: the effect of these exposures on the brain and thyroid during pregnancy and childhood.
