A new report has described an alarmingly high rate of undiagnosed acute and chronic hepatitis B and hepatitis C in patients with cancer.
A new, continuous flow heart pump, or left ventricular assist device (LVAD), delivered better two-year survival in advanced heart failure patients than the current pulsatile model, researchers reported in a late-breaking clinical trial presentation at the American Heart Association's Scientific Sessions 2009.
"Today, the Senate took another historic step on the road to enacting health insurance reform. By clearing this first procedural hurdle, senators will now have an opportunity to debate the health reform bill on the Senate floor and continue to make progress on delivering health insurance reform to the American people.
A drug may be more effective against the leading cause of adult blindness than laser treatments, a new study has shown.
