TetraLogic Pharmaceuticals, a biopharmaceutical company developing novel small molecule Smac mimetic drugs to treat cancer, today announced the oral presentation of new data on its Smac mimetic drug candidate TL32711 at the 53rd ASH Annual Meeting and Exposition in San Diego.
The American Oil Chemists' Society has honored University of Massachusetts Amherst food scientist Yeonhwa Park with the Timothy L. Mounts Award for her "significant and important contributions in the area of bioactive lipids and their impact on health conditions such as obesity, osteoporosis, arthritis and cardiovascular disease."
Researchers at Children's Hospital Los Angeles have made an important step toward finding a target in the fight against drug-resistant neuroblastoma (NBL), the most common solid malignancy found, outside of the skull, in children.
Patient Safety Technologies, Inc. today announced that it has filed a lawsuit against ClearCount Medical Solutions in the United States District Court for the Central District of California, asserting a claim against ClearCount for infringement of United States Patent No. 5,931,824 entitled "Identification and Accountability System for Surgical Sponges."
The study appears this week in the journal Cell Host & Microbe that tested the gel on women in South Africa (where the risk of HIV and herpes is great) found that the anti-HIV/AIDS drug tenofovir reduced herpes infections by 51% and HIV infections by 39%.
