An artificial pancreas system proved more effective at controlling nocturnal glucose levels than a sensor-augmented insulin pump, in a study of children with Type 1 diabetes treated outside the hospital setting in a diabetes camp, report researchers.
The Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (PFF) announced today that registration is now open for the IPF Summit 2011: From Bench to Bedside. The conference will feature an innovative two-day continuing medical education (CME) program for physicians, researchers, and other health care professionals. Additionally there will be a separate one-day patient, family member, and caregiver program to address the growing educational needs of the idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) community.
Endovascular stents, stent grafts, and transcatheter heart valve (TAVI) devices provide enhanced methods for clinical treatment of cardiac and vascular disease. Further research and product development is currently ongoing worldwide to address complications associated with these devices.
A research team at the University of Colorado Cancer Center has identified an enzyme that could be used to diagnose colon cancer earlier. It is possible that this enzyme also could be a key to stopping the cancer.
The American College of Physicians today applauded President Obama for advocating that states have an earlier option to design their own approaches to provide coverage to their residents, as long as it is comparable to those offered through the health exchanges created by the Affordable Care Act.
