Medarex, Inc. and Bristol-Myers Squibb Company announced today that complete or partial responses in seven of 56 patients with metastatic melanoma showed durability ranging from four months to the longest still ongoing at over 34 months, with five of the seven responses ongoing for more than two years.
In some cancers, including leukemia in children and adolescents, obesity can negatively affect survival outcomes. Obese young people with leukemia are 50% more likely to relapse after treatment than their lean counterparts.
Cheetah Medical today announced the European launch of its new NICOM(R) System which offers an integrated Pulse Oximetry functionality (OxiMax(R) Covidien plc). In addition to core hemodynamic parameters including Cardiac Output (CO), Stroke Volume (SV), Noninvasive Blood Pressure (NIBP), Total Peripheral Resistance (TPR) and Stroke Volume Variation (SVV), the new system provides a new important parameter, Oxygen Delivery Index (DO2I).
Between 1993 and 2012, the incidence rate of acute traumatic spinal cord injury remained relatively stable in the U.S., although there was an increase among older adults, mostly associated with an increase in falls, according to a study in the June 9 issue of JAMA, a theme issue on the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Gastroesophageal reflux disorder (GERD) and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) are two very common disorders affecting the gastrointestinal tract. About 10% of the population experience daily discomfort from reflux of gastric contents into the esophagus. More than 10% of the population experience abdominal pain and disturbed bowel movement because of irritable bowel syndrome.
