The Visiting Nurse Service of New York (VNSNY) Center for Home Health Care Policy & Research, the only research center focused on studying home health care in the U.S., has received funding from The Center for Technology and Aging to test state-of-the art information technology (IT) strategies designed to help elderly patients with cognitive impairment and their caregivers safely manage multiple medications.
Gene therapy involving modified stem cells obtained from fatty tissue and bone marrow could represent a new option for the treatment of severe orthopaedic injuries to the extremities.
The prevalence of nonrefractive visual impairment (not due to need for glasses) in the U.S. has increased significantly in recent years, which may be partly related to a higher prevalence of diabetes, an associated risk factor, according to a study in the December 12 issue of JAMA.
