In female cancer patients of reproductive age, radiation treatment directly to the ovaries should be avoided because there is a direct relationship between certain types of radiation therapy and fertility problems, according to a review in the April 1 issue of the International Journal of Radiation Oncology*Biology*Physics , the official journal of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO).
With the early onset of flu season coinciding with the start of school this year, parents are concerned about the flu. Experts from The Children's Hospital in Denver, Colo., offer a pediatric perspective on all types of flu, including H1N1, also known as swine flu.
As part of ongoing efforts to improve patient services, the Department of Radiology at UC San Diego is participating in the Enterprise Patient Flow (EPF) Study. UC San Diego Medical Center will implement the On-Cue™ System - developed by Allocade, Inc., a developer of innovative healthcare software solutions - to study process improvement, resource utilization, communication and patient experience.
A recent perspective article published in the prestigious journal Science highlights how the use of network-driven strategies for adequately informing rapidly emergent epidemic responses is not only evidence-based but also an equitable way forward for the current coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic and future respiratory pandemics.
