Spontaneous brain activity formerly thought to be "white noise" measurably changes after a person learns a new task, researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and the University of Chieti, Italy, have shown.
"There is a growing body of evidence to support the use of yoga as a health and healing tool and a complement to standard medical interventions and therapy," said Dr. Walsh, assistant professor, Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Neurosciences, Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine.
In a BMJ analysis examining the future of the WHO, David Legge, scholar emeritus at Australia's La Trobe University, notes "[a] substantial shortfall in the funds available for basic administrative functions led WHO's director general, Margaret Chan, to initiate another reform of the WHO in 2010," and "outlines the problems and what the reforms are trying to achieve."
A pilot human clinical trial conducted by researchers at Baylor College of Medicine reveals that supplementation with GlyNAC - a combination of glycine and N-acetylcysteine as precursors of the natural antioxidant glutathione - could improve many age-associated defects in older humans to improve muscle strength and cognition, and promote healthy aging.
Despite evidence to the contrary, parents who talk to their children about sexual abuse incorrectly identify strangers as the most likely source of abuse, according to a team of researchers led by Esther Deblinger, PhD, co-director of the CARES (Child Abuse Research Education and Services) Institute at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey(UMDNJ)-School of Osteopathic Medicine.
