Esperance Pharmaceuticals today announced the completion of the run-in cohort of its Phase 2, randomized, multi‐center trial of EP‑100 in combination with paclitaxel for patients with advanced ovarian cancer. EP‐100 is a targeted membrane‐disrupting peptide (tMDP) designed to seek and destroy cancer cells that overexpress luteinizing hormone releasing hormone (LHRH) receptors on their surfaces.
Biotechnology industry leaders announced today a major new program to improve the quality of U.S. life science education. The Biotechnology Institute's new "Scientists in the Classroom" initiative is the life science industry's response to President Obama's "Educate to Innovate" campaign to improve the performance of America's students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education.
Using technology that makes it possible to zoom in on smaller sections of cell chromosomes than ever before, researchers at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute have identified nearly 100 chromosome regions where genes are either over-copied or missing in non-small cell lung cancer.
A new study is believed to be the first to describe the unique role of androgens in kidney cancer, and it suggests that a new approach to treatment, targeting the androgen receptor (AR), is worth further investigation.
Sedative medications used in intensive care are associated with increased delirium, which is in turn connected with higher medical costs and greater risk of death and ICU-related dementia.
