Plexxikon today announced that dosing began in the first of two Phase 1 clinical trials with PLX5622, a novel, oral and highly selective Fms inhibitor, targeted for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.
Our cells tend to lose their shape as we grow older, contributing to many of the effects we experience as aging. This poses particular problems for the heart, where aging can disrupt the protein network within muscle cells that move blood around the body.
Hesperos, Inc., announced today the receipt of a NIH Phase I Small Business Innovation Research grant from the National Institutes of Health National Institute on Aging to help create a new multi-organ "human-on-a-chip" model that can realistically mimic the biology of Alzheimer's Disease and the effects of potential new therapies under realistic human physiological conditions.
