A new survey from the American Pain Foundation says economic pain from the recession is contributing to acute, or short-term, physical pain for Americans. According to the survey, released today during National Pain Awareness Month, 68 percent of people who experienced acute back pain or other minor muscle strains and sprains in the past year said that the recession caused, increased or affected their pain, often because of greater stress and working harder at home and on the job.
The Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network will celebrate the first annual Bladder Cancer Awareness Day on Saturday, July 17 with more than two dozen volunteer-led events nationwide. In addition to raising public awareness about the risks and signs of bladder cancer, the events will serve as a forum for bladder cancer patients, survivors and their caregivers to meet and share their stories.
Researchers at Moffitt Cancer Center, working with colleagues in Sweden, the Netherlands and Puerto Rico, have validated a radiosensitivity molecular signature that can lead to better radiation therapy decisions for treating patients with breast cancer.
More than 40 of Michigan's best golf courses are donating greens fees on select dates in May, allowing golfers to play for free while raising funds for multiple sclerosis research, programs and services. 2010 marks the 20th anniversary of the National MS Society Michigan Chapter's "MS Longest Day of Golf" event, which takes place in both May and September.
