In a new study led by the Immune Systems Biology research group of the LIH Department of Infection and Immunity, researchers adopted a holistic machine-learning approach to elucidate how the interactions between neuronal mitochondria can serve as a powerful tool to distinguish nerve cells from Parkinson's patients from those belonging to healthy subjects, thereby providing new insights in the pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of this neurodegenerative disorder.
In his newest book, "Overlooked Causes and the Prevention: Cancer, Cardiovascular Heart Disease, Multiple Sclerosis" (published by AuthorHouse), author Arthur Douglass Alexander III exposes, delineates and documents the sometimes overlooked and often ignored causes of three major life-threatening and chronic diseases: cancer, cardiovascular disease and multiple sclerosis.
Beginning Monday April 25th the Florida Department of Health is conducting four public hearings on proposed reductions to the eligibility threshold to Florida's AIDS Drug Assistance Program, AIDS Insurance Continuation Program, Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS, and possibly other Ryan White funded programs and services.
The past 25 years have seen a significant increase in student participation in high school athletics. Studies have revealed that 2 million injuries, 500,000 doctor visits and 30,000 hospitalizations occur each year among high school athletes.
B-vitamin supplements should not be recommended for prevention of heart disease, say scientists. A Cochrane Systematic Review has shown these supplements do not reduce the risk of developing or dying from the disease.
