A growing body of research leaves no doubt that nanoparticles can transport drugs into cancer cells, but what is less clear is that the drug payload can exit the tiny endosomes that pull nanoparticles into cells.
About 90 percent of autism spectrum disorders have suspected genetic causes but few genes have been identified so far. Now, leading an international team, Johns Hopkins researchers have identified several genetic links to autism, chief among them a variant of semaphorin 5A, whose protein product controls nerve connections in the brain.
The USU-HJF Military Medicine Symposium will gather prominent civilian and military researchers and clinicians from across the United States to discuss current research and identify opportunities to collaborate and share information that could speed treatments to wounded warriors. The symposium also will bring together a broad spectrum of participants from military health leadership, federal agencies and private research institutions to philanthropists and charitable foundations, representatives of industry, and policymakers.
Retirement transition may influence living habits and time use. The researchers of the University of Turku, Finland, found that retirement transition also has an impact on the amount of sitting during free time.
