Too little vitamin D could be bad for more than your bones; it may also lead to fatter adolescents, researchers say.
The Chinese government on Monday praised HIV/AIDS advocate and retired physician Gao Yaojie after placing her under house arrest last week to prevent her from visiting the U.S. to accept an award from the group Vital Voices Global Partnership, the AP/International Herald Tribune reports.
PharmAthene, Inc., a biodefense company developing medical countermeasures against biological and chemical threats, announced today that based on information provided by PharmAthene in its compliance plan, and discussions with Exchange staff, the NYSE Amex LLC has determined that the Company made a reasonable demonstration of its ability to regain compliance with the NYSE Amex listing requirements and granted PharmAthene an extension until January 26, 2012 to demonstrate its compliance.
An annual employer health benefits survey conducted by the Kaiser Family Foundation and the Health Research & Educational Trust found that premiums for employer-provided health insurance jumped in 2011. The survey also found, though, that 2.3 million young adults have gained coverage through their parents' policies as a result of the 2010 health law.
