Researchers from USC and the Technion Medical School in Israel have uncovered new clues into the mystery of the brain's ultra-complicated cells known as neurons.
The international AIDS conference in Washington has already made two points clear. There is no prospect that scientists will any time soon find the ultimate solutions to the AIDS epidemic, namely a vaccine that would prevent infection with the AIDS virus or a "cure" for people already infected with the virus.
Varian, Inc. announced today that Steady State Imaging (SSI) has signed a reseller's agreement with Varian, Inc. regarding SSI's new SWIFT Software for Varian's research MRI Systems. SWIFT is a novel MRI technology that advances existing MR techniques with the ability to silently image structures and tissues previously invisible to conventional MRI systems.
Bionic Vision Australia (BVA), a consortium of researchers working together to develop bionic eye devices to restore a sense of vision to people with profound vision loss, today announced the successful completion of the first clinical trial of its prototype 24-channel percutaneous implant in patients with profound vision loss from the eye disease retinitis pigmentosa (RP).
Since the passage of the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act in 2009, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has met the ambitious implementation deadlines set forth in the law, the agency said Wednesday at a congressional briefing hosted by the American Association for Cancer Research.
