A new study suggests that patients with influenza can emit small virus-containing particles into the surrounding air during routine patient care, potentially exposing health care providers to influenza. Published in The Journal of Infectious Diseases, the findings raise the possibility that current influenza infection control recommendations may not always be adequate to protect providers from influenza during routine patient care in hospitals.
Current view is that cancer development is initiated from cells that acquire initial DNA mutations. These in turn provoke additional defects, and ultimately the affected cells begin to proliferate in an uncontrolled manner to develop primary tumors.

The results, published today in Nature Immunology, suggest a common biochemical thread to multiple diseases and point the way to a new class of therapies that could treat chronic inflammation in these non-infectious diseases without crippling the immune system.
As the aging population continues to grow, the need for qualified geriatric care management standards is increasingly critical. To evolve industry standards and ultimately improve profession-recognized qualifications, the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers (NAPGCM) introduced new membership categories, including the official "Certified Geriatric Care Manager" category which requires specific higher education levels, supervised work experience and one of four industry-sanctioned professional designations.
