As the opioid epidemic continues to claim lives and shatter families across the nation, a Cedars-Sinai expert is urging physicians and patients to try managing pain without the addictive pills.
Summer Street Research Partners is pleased to announce the recent closing of a financing for ImmunoCellular Therapeutics, Ltd., a Los Angeles-based clinical-stage company that is developing immune-based therapies for the treatment of brain and other cancers.
A new study in BioMed Central's open access journal Critical Care suggests that intensive glycemic control does not reduce mortality in neurocritical care patients and could, in fact, lead to more neurological damage. Complicating the picture, poor glucose control also leads to worse recovery and should be avoided.
Preliminary surveillance into antiviral drug susceptibility against seasonal flu viruses currently circulating in Europe has revealed that some of the A (H1N1) viruses (13%) have shown resistance to the antiviral drug, oseltamivir.
In this morning's news, the Obama administration takes a hard line against insurers - warning them not to blame the new health law for their rate hikes.
