Adding a drug that activates genes to frontline combination therapy for acute myeloid leukemia resulted in an 85 percent remission rate after initial treatment, researchers at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center reported at the 53rd Annual Meeting of the American Society of Hematology.
Eastern Maine Medical Center's (EMMC) newly renovated 32,000 square foot Imaging Center is the high-tech host to an array of outpatient services, including CT scans, MRIs, Digital Mammography, Diagnostic Cardiology, Radiography and Ultrasound. Centralizing these medical services allowed EMMC to not only expand their offerings, but also alleviate parking congestion, long patient wait times and rescheduling.
Diet remains an important part of disease prevention and management, and a new study suggests that consumption of fructose may worsen intestinal inflammation common to inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD).
Patients with diabetes are at increased risk of microvascular complications, which develop when the body's small blood vessels become diseased. One of the most common problems results when wounds fail to heal properly, which can lead to ulcers, chronic infections, and in the most serious cases, limb amputations.
