As leaders of two large structural genomics centers, they've experimentally determined 500 three-dimensional protein structures from a number of bacterial and protozoan pathogens, which could potentially lead to new drugs, vaccines and diagnostics to combat deadly infectious diseases.
Women who consume alcohol during pregnancy -; even in small amounts -; have a 19% greater risk of miscarriage than women who don't use alcohol, according to a new study by Vanderbilt researchers.
New research shows that Alzheimer's disease and other dementing illnesses may be easily misdiagnosed in the elderly, according to early results of a study of people in Hawaii who had their brains autopsied after death. The research is being released today and will be presented as part of a plenary session at the American Academy of Neurology's 63rd Annual Meeting in Honolulu April 9 to April 16, 2011.
A coalition of hundreds of AIDS activists, patients, medical care providers and concerned citizens of all backgrounds are expected to gather tomorrow, Wednesday, March 17th at 12:30 pm on the north side of the South Carolina State House for a rally to reinstate all $5.9 million in HIV/AIDS funding.
