Researchers at Montefiore Medical Center have identified, in a pilot study published in the April edition of Pediatric Neurology, that children with Rett Syndrome, who cannot speak or use their hands to communicate and therefore were thought to be unable to understand and process information, do in fact exhibit meaningful visual search whereby they can process and prioritize information.
The use of tympanometry by general practitioners in the assessment of children with middle ear problems varies considerably, with some clinicians not using it at all, say Danish researchers.
A study led by scientists at the Institute for Research in Biomedicine and published in Nature Communications proposes chaperone protein Hps70 as an attractive therapeutic target for the treatment of Kennedy's disease—a rare neuromuscular condition—and of castration-resistant prostate cancer.
Model G - the new Detroit-designed hospital gown that finally closes the drafty, embarrassing backside - has moved from creative concept to the patient's bedside, with more than 35,000 gowns rolling out this month throughout Henry Ford Health System's hospitals.
