The Alzheimer's Foundation of America is awarding $206,184 over the next three years to Stony Brook Medicine to support an innovative Positron Emission Tomography imaging research project that will compare neurons from healthy controls and those with Alzheimer's disease in an effort to improve drug development.
Mayo Clinic researchers have manipulated a human antibody to induce an anti-tumor response in living mice that consistently curbs - and often cures - malignant melanoma, one of the most lethal forms of skin cancer and the most common cancer of young adults.
Rapidly spreading viral diseases, such as COVID 19 have led to an increased need to determine body temperature quickly and reliably using infrared measurement technology. But checking each person individually and manually has often proven to be cumbersome and time-consuming in practice.
The CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices now recommends routine HPV vaccination for males aged 11 to 12 years and catch-up vaccination for males aged 13 to 21. These are just two of the changes to the 2012 Recommended Adult Immunization Schedule being published February 1 in Annals of Internal Medicine, the flagship journal of the American College of Physicians.
