In a recent study released on the bioRxiv* preprint server, the researchers suggest that an aberrant inflammatory reaction associated with COVID-19 could be a result of escape from direct sensing by toll-like receptors (TLRs). Moreover, the researchers indicate that this phenomenon might underlie the lack of efficient immunity to the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) early during infection.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have now received information on 34 deaths and over 1,600 cases of e-cigarette, or vaping, product use associated lung injury (EVALI), as of October 22, 2019. This means over 120 new cases in just one week. The CDC has run a comprehensive analysis on 29 of the deaths.
In a study to be presented on Feb. 5 in an oral plenary session at 8 a.m. PST, at the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine's annual meeting, The Pregnancy Meeting, in San Diego, researchers will report that cell free DNA analysis is less effective than sequential screening as primary testing for fetal chromosomal abnormalities.
Arable Corporation has announced the launch of Arable Perform to bring unique CTMS technologies to the clinical trial industry. Whereas traditional CTMS systems have been costly and require months to implement, Perform brings CTMS and EDC capabilities without the traditionally high start-up costs.
