A new discovery about the effects of aging in our cells could allow doctors to cure or prevent diabetes, fatty liver disease and other metabolic diseases - and possibly even turn back the clock on aging itself.
Boston Scientific Corporation today rebutted an article published in the journal HeartRhythm. The article reported a case summary of a patient who had been implanted subcutaneously with a Cognis cardiac resynchronization therapy defibrillator. The article suggested a weakened header bond was responsible for the abnormal sensing and pacing impedance experienced by the patient.
The University of Alabama at Birmingham has been awarded nearly $18.9 million by the National Institutes of Health Countermeasures Against Chemical Threats Program and National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences to support the UAB Research Center of Excellence in Arsenicals.
Breast cancer rates increased significantly in four Norwegian counties after women there began undergoing mammography every two years, according to a report in the November 24 issue of Archives of Internal Medicine , one of the JAMA/Archives journals.
