Scientists report in the September 2007 issue of the Journal of Lipid Research that a lipid known to protect the heart from inflammation and to cause skin allergic reactions also reduces inflammation of the kidneys.
A gene linked in previous research, appears to predict more severe post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms as well as a thinner cortex in regions of the brain critical for regulating strong emotions and coping with stressful experiences. This study is believed to be the first to show that the spindle and kinetochore-associated complex subunit 2 (SKA2) gene may play a role in the development of PTSD.

(NNLX), an innovator in the rapid detection, identification and determination of antibiotic resistance and sensitivity of live bacteria, announces that the State of Ohio Department of Economic Development's International Trade Assistance Center (ITAC) based at Youngstown State University (YSU) is providing support to Hubbard Ohio-based NanoLogix Inc. for international distribution of NanoLogix products by Nasaem Al-Jazira, a Saudi Arabian Trading and Distribution Company.
The Associated Press/USA Today: "The Federal Trade Commission says patent settlements between drugmakers that cost U.S. consumers billions each year are on the rise. The agency reported Wednesday that the number of lucrative settlements between brand-name and generic drug companies rose to 19 last year from 16 in 2008 and 14 the year before."
