The White House launches a media blitz this week to coincide with the shrinking timeline for getting a health reform package passed in the Senate, Roll Call reports.
How do we know where we are at any given moment? How do we remember routes that we've walked? Spatial navigation has long been a subject of psychological and brain research. "It is likely that there is more than one spatial navigation mechanism; rather, the brain uses different 'codes' to memorise locations," says Nikolai Axmacher.
"The Internal Revenue Service won't audit you to make sure you have purchased health insurance under provisions of the new health-care law—but it may withhold your tax refund if you can't demonstrate that you are insured, an IRS official said Thursday," The Wall Street Journal reports. "There are tools we can use. We obviously will be notifying folks [for whom there is no record of health insurance] that we have these questions," Steven T. Miller, IRS deputy commissioner for services and enforcement, said.
It has long been established that people suffering from high blood pressure can benefit greatly by reducing their salt intake.
An international study led by scientists at McGill University reports, for the first time, that drugs that selectively target the melatonin MT2 receptor represent a novel class of analgesic drugs that could be used to treat patients with neuropathic pain.
