Lantheus Medical Imaging, Inc., a worldwide leader in diagnostic imaging, today announced Phase 1 data for its novel heart failure Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging agent, LMI 1195, which is in development for the evaluation of patients at risk of heart failure or sudden cardiac death.
BioMarin Pharmaceutical Inc. today announced financial results for the fourth quarter and year ended December 31, 2009. GAAP net income was $4.7 million ($0.05 per diluted share) for the fourth quarter of 2009, compared to GAAP net income of $24.5 million ($0.21 per diluted share) for the fourth quarter of 2008, which included a $30.0 million payment from Merck Serono related to the approval of Kuvan in the EU.
A new study designed to look at how well patients with high blood pressure and dyslipidemia (high cholesterol levels) coped with their medication, has discovered that within six months many patients fail to take blood pressure or cholesterol medication properly.
"The question of who is responsible for Haiti's cholera epidemic - the first that the Caribbean nation, the western hemisphere's poorest, has seen in a century - has raised tempers since the first case was detected in October 2010," TIME reports in an article examining a lawsuit filed against the U.N. claiming it is responsible for bringing the disease into the country and seeking damages for cholera victims and their families.
"The United Nations and the United States Peace Corps signed an agreement [Thursday] to cooperate in combating worldwide hunger by increasing food security in the 76 countries where the more than 8,600 U.S. volunteers currently work," the U.N. News Centre reports.
