Kindred Healthcare, Inc. today announced its operating results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2012. The Company's consolidated financial statements include the operating results of RehabCare Group, Inc. since the closing of the acquisition on June 1, 2011.
Considering how many microorganisms we ingest each day, our gut has an extensive and well-developed immune system. EPFL scientists have found that gut immunity is not affected by single genes but by entire groups of genes.
Pieces in the complex autism inheritance puzzle are emerging in the latest study from a research team including geneticists from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). The study identified 27 different genetic regions where rare copy number variations - missing or extra copies of DNA segments - were found in the genes of children with autism spectrum disorders, but not in the healthy controls. The findings are published June 26 in the open-access journal PLoS Genetics.
"Cytomegalovirus, beware of this new research group!" This could be the motto of a new research unit recently approved by the German Research Foundation. It is titled: "Advanced concepts in cellular control of cytomegalovirus ".
A recent study finds that the advantages of the new Medicare Part D drug benefit-a program that for the first time offers Medicare recipients prescription drug coverage-are mixed.
