Researchers at the University of Minnesota Medical School have discovered a new population of cells in human umbilical cord blood that have properties of primitive stem cells.
Despite the economy's negative impact on Minnesota building projects, 22 regional construction firms have been recognized by Minnesota Laborers-Employers Cooperation and Education Trust (LECET) for their commitment to worker safety in 2008.
A group of proteins that act as the body's built-in line of defense against invading bacteria use a molecular trick to induce bacteria to destroy themselves, researchers at the Indiana University School of Medicine have determined.
