Cardiac Science Corporation, a global leader in automated external defibrillators (AEDs) and diagnostic cardiac monitoring devices, announced today that the Japan Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare approved a new model of its Powerheart G3 AED. The company is partnering with Omron Healthcare to distribute its AEDs in Japan. Japan-based Omron is a leading healthcare company dedicated to prevention of heart disease.
A team of researchers from Imperial College London has conducted a study aimed at calculating a reasonably accurate case fatality ratio and infection fatality ratio, which is based on Chinese data as well as international reports. The research is published on the pre-print server MedRxiv.
Researchers from the UK and Germany recently reported a comprehensive characterization of the SARS-CoV-2 response of human nasal epithelial cells, revealing a response dominated by IFN-I/IIIs. Also, recombinant IFN-I/III treatment was found to efficiently block the replication of SARS-CoV-2, which suggests that mucosal delivery of IFNs may be a good strategy for prophylaxis post-exposure.
Invuity, a leading developer of state-of-the-art surgical visualization and illumination technology, has raised a $25 million Series D round of financing to expand the development, manufacturing and commercialization of the company's advanced medical devices.
