MonaVie, maker of premier acai-based nutritional and energy drink products, today announces that the lawsuit brought against it and other defendants by Harpo Inc., owner of the Oprah Winfrey family of trademarks, and Dr. Mehmet Oz, a doctor who regularly appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show and now host of "The Dr. Oz Show," for the unauthorized use of their names and images, has been amicably resolved.
Cancer cells need life-essential molecules to proliferate. These so-called growth factors are activated by ectodomain shedding of precursor proteins on the outside of the plasma membrane, mainly carried out by three human cleavage enzymes. A pharmaceutical blocking of these enzymes could hinder cancer from growing but would also inhibit other life-essential processes.
Data from two long-term open-label extension studies of Fampridine-SR show that 86.0% of participants remained on therapy after a maximum treatment time of 15 months in study MS-F204EXT, and 69.5% remained on therapy after a maximum treatment time of 36 months in study MS-F203EXT.

A tumor-blocking protein previously implicated in prostate and breast cancer development may also be behind the most aggressive type of pancreatic cancer. Researchers at the Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson in Philadelphia have discovered that the protein pp32 – which normally applies the brakes on a cancer-causing gene – is missing in an aggressive form of pancreatic cancer.
