The complex chain of metabolic events in bacteria that lead to fatal diseases such as tuberculosis (TB) may be better understood using mathematical models, according to an article published in the February issue of Microbiology Today.
Cambridge Research & Instrumentation, Inc. (CRi), a leader in pre-clinical and molecular imaging, announced today that it has signed exclusive agreements to distribute 3DHISTECH's full suite of digital slide scanners and software applications in North America, and the development and distribution of next generation product offerings that address growing applications in digital pathology. These agreements expand CRi's offerings in the rapidly growing digital pathology market.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced today in a Drug Safety Communication that it is requiring an update to the Boxed Warning, the agency's most prominent safety warning, and requiring class-wide labeling changes for benzodiazepines to include the risks of abuse, misuse, addiction, physical dependence and withdrawal reactions to help improve their safe use.
A new report released Wednesday by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says that in spite of the widely available screening tests many cancers are not diagnosed until the disease is well-advanced and, therefore, less treatable and more fatal. The report says that half of colorectal cancers and cervical cancers and one-third of breast cancers in the United States are detected at a late stage.
Scientific research into CGM-like sensors goes back more than 40 years. I was working with the first company to begin commercial development, MiniMed, back in 1992 when the science was really beginning to percolate. In 1999 the FDA approved the first CGM device for use in the United States.
