Poor blood pressure control among patients with atrial fibrillation is associated with a 50-percent increased risk of stroke, according to an analysis presented by Duke Medicine researchers.
Nutra Pharma Corp. (OTCBB: NPHC), a biotechnology company that is developing treatments for Adrenomyeloneuropathy (AMN), HIV and Multiple Sclerosis (MS), has announced today that it has successfully submitted final packaging and labeling to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to begin selling Cobroxin, an over-the-counter (OTC) treatment for stage 2 (moderate to severe) chronic pain.
"The communiqué released at the end of the U.N. high-level panel meeting on the post-2015 development agenda failed to mention disability, repeating in Bali the same omission notable in last month's official communiqué from the Monrovia meeting," Dominic Haslam, director of policy and strategic program support at Sightsavers, and Virginia Kamowa, global advocacy coordinator for the organization, write in The Guardian's "Poverty Matters" blog.
Three review papers from leading researchers in the fields of cell biology, dermatology and epidemiology have looked closely at the effects on skin of UV radiation, including that from indoor tanning beds.
While searching for new targets for malaria drugs and vaccines, a team including a Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) medical student fellow reached a fundamental insight about evolution: different species make use of similar sets of proteins in different ways.
