Now, researchers at the RIKEN Brain Science Institute in Japan have pinpointed specific brain regions related to this process by examining neural activity in people playing shogi, a Japanese form of chess.
SurModics, Inc., a leading provider of drug delivery and surface modification technologies to the healthcare industry, announced today that it has entered into an agreement with ForSight Labs, LLC to license certain non-core ophthalmology technology. The technology licensed in this agreement does not include the Company's I-vation™ drug delivery technology. While the license agreement contains an up-front license fee, milestone payments and royalties, specific terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Researchers in Japan have developed a new photodiode that can detect in just milliseconds a certain type of high-energy ultraviolet light, called UVC, which is powerful enough to break the bonds of DNA and harm living creatures. The researchers describe their new device in the journal Applied Physics Letters.
More than 12 million Americans suffer from food allergies, or one in 25. According to The Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network, one in 17 children age three and under have a food allergy, and these numbers are rising rapidly. The rate of peanut allergy alone has doubled over the last ten years.
