Today's headlines reflect the mounting pressure in the Senate regarding the pending health overhaul bill - especially as the clock ticks closer to the Christmas holiday.
Although liver-related mortality among those infected with hepatitis C is well-documented, little is known about deaths in these patients that are not related to liver problems. A new study published in Clinical Infectious Diseases and now available online sought to determine mortality from all causes, including liver- and non-liver related deaths among hepatitis C patients in the general U.S. population. The analysis found mortality from all causes to be higher in these patients.
Eliminating sugar from the diet can be challenging, however, the health benefits of a low sugar diet are almost immediate, say researchers.
A new study has found that adults who had parents who struggled with substance dependence, intimate partner violence and mental illness are more than 10 times more likely to have been victims of childhood sexual abuse than those whose parents did not have these problems, once age and race are taken into account.
