RNL Bio Co., Ltd, (www.rnl.co.kr) a leading biopharmaceutical company specialized in adult stem cell therapeutics announced today that a 46-year-old female, Kang Sook Park's Multiple Sclerosis improved tremendously after receiving stem cell treatment. Park was suffering from MS (Multiple Sclerosis), an autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord).
Genoptix, Inc., a specialized laboratory services provider, today announced that it ranked number 41 on Technology Fast 500™, Deloitte's ranking of 500 of the fastest growing technology, media, telecommunications, life sciences and clean technology companies in North America. Rankings are based on percentage of fiscal year revenue growth during the five year period from 2005–2009. Genoptix grew 3,451 percent during this period.
The era of one-size-fits-all medicine will eventually be history; after all it is no news that drugs and treatments do not work the same for everyone. For patients with nonsmall cell lung cancer, a lung cancer that kills approximately 1 million people annually, the treatment currently available is basically the same for all patients, despite the fact that some patients may respond to treatment while others may not.
A new technique for increasing the survival rates of human embryonic stem cells will revolutionize their use in drug discovery and therapy. Human embryonic stem cells often die during the process of isolation using enzymatic disaggregation or low-density plating, which limits their usefulness in drug discovery and basic research. Similarly, the low rate of attachment of implanted cells hinders cell therapy.
Medivir AB today announced it has appointed Daewoong Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. as its exclusive distributor for Xerclear™ in South Korea. Under the terms of the agreement, Daewoong will be responsible for obtaining the regulatory approvals, and for marketing, sales and distribution of Medivir's cold sore product in the territory. In consideration of the rights granted to Daewoong, Medivir will receive upfront and milestone payments and royalties on sales according to a profit sharing scheme.
