The rate of deaths in Haiti's cholera epidemic slowed on Monday. This followed a multinational medical operation scale up to limit the spread of an outbreak that has killed 259 people in the earthquake-hit country. However Haitian and international health authorities are still bracing for more cases before the epidemic is finally controlled. So far, the epidemic has mostly impacted two rural central Haitian provinces, Artibonite and Center, along with the few isolated cases in the capital Port-au-Prince. Suspected cases have also been reported in the Nord and Sud provinces.
Codexis, Inc. today announced two separate collaborations in pharmaceutical manufacturing with Dishman Pharmaceuticals and Chemicals and AMPAC Fine Chemicals LLC, a subsidiary of American Pacific Corporation. These agreements expand the application of Codexis technology to a broadened pipeline of branded innovator pharmaceutical products.
VeriChip Corporation ("VeriChip") and its development partner RECEPTORS LLC, a technology company whose AFFINITY by DESIGN™ chemistry platform can be applied to the development of selective binding products, announced today that VeriChip plans to fund its existing partnership with RECEPTORS to continue the development of a triage detection system for detection of the H1N1 virus.
