A genetic accident in the sea more than 500 million years ago has provided new insight into diabetes, according to research from Queen Mary, University of London.
In a comprehensive review published in the current issue of P&P Carol Ryff described how major research findings have supported the link between psychological well-being and physical health.
Women with a genetic predisposition for breast cancer were 2.5 times more likely to develop a malignancy than women with the same genetic risk who underwent bariatric or weight-loss surgery, according to a new study presented today by Cleveland Clinic Florida researchers at the 36th American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Annual Meeting at ObesityWeek 2019.
In a recent study, researchers from the US identified two immunogenic non-structural proteins - PLpro and RdRp - from immunodominant gene regions ORF1ab, ORF3a and ORF9b as potential targets for a vaccine against SARS-CoV-2.
In attempt to identify biological markers, or biomarkers, that can signal the presence of cancer and help oncologists determine the best course of therapy when cancer is present, teams of investigators are scouring stored tissue samples obtained from thousands of cancer patients.
