The first study to investigate the effects of cognitive training on the cognitive functioning of older adults by education level has found that individuals with fewer than 12 years of schooling benefit more from cognitive training than their more highly educated counterparts.
A study that is published in the last issue of Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics examines the relationship between life events and survival after diagnosis of melanoma, a life-threatening cancer of the skin. Negative, undesirable events are important for health outcomes.
Children with arthritis affecting five or more joints, called polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis (polyarticular JIA), living in less affluent families were twice as likely to report more than an hour of morning joint stiffness, compared to their counterparts from more affluent families, according to a study by investigators at Hospital for Special Surgery.
