Inattention among kindergarteners was associated with lower earnings as adults in this study based on behavioral ratings from kindergarten teachers for 2,850 children in Canada at ages 5 or 6 and government tax returns for those same children as adults at ages 33 to 35.
"Supplies - the essential medicines and medical equipment frontline health workers need to successfully do their jobs - are a vital part of the solution to saving the lives of mothers and newborns," Catharine Taylor, a maternal health expert with PATH, writes in the Huffington Post's "Global Motherhood" blog, adding, "And yet, they are frequently overlooked in the ongoing conversation about how to improve maternal health in the developing world."
The national #KnowBetterDoBetter movement led by the Black AIDS Institute (BAI) is coming to the Bay Area and the message is loud and clear- we can end the AIDS epidemic if we fully engage non-medical workers on the frontline of the battle with greater knowledge and skills.
Previous studies have shown that African American men are 2.4 times as likely to die from prostate cancer compared to non-Hispanic white men.
By simply eating four or more servings of green salad a week and working in the garden once or twice a week, smokers and nonsmokers alike may be able to substantially reduce the risk of developing lung cancer, say researchers at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center.
