The AstraZeneca HealthCare Foundation program, Connections for Cardiovascular Health, today announced a grant of more than $252,000 to the University of Michigan Health System to expand "Project Healthy Schools."
Boston Scientific Corporation has received CE Mark on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) conditional labeling for the current family of EL (Extended Longevity) and MINI implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) and the X4 cardiac resynchronization therapy defibrillator (CRT-D) systems. This revised labeling ensures that future patients and those already implanted with these systems are able to undergo MRI scans if indicated.
A new series of studies in mouse models by Mayo Clinic researchers uncovered that the aging process is characterized by high rates of whole-chromosome losses and gains in various organs, including heart, muscle, kidney and eye, and demonstrate that reducing these rates slows age-related tissue deterioration and promotes a healthier life span. The findings appear in today's online issue of Nature Cell Biology.
Findings reported today from a new international study of healing prayer suggest that prayer for another person's healing just might help especially if the one praying is physically near the person being prayed for.Candy Gunther Brown, an associate professor in the Department of Religious Studies at Indiana University Bloomington, led the study of "proximal intercessory prayer" for healing. It is available online today and will be published in the September 2010 issue of the Southern Medical Journal.
