RXi Pharmaceuticals Corporation, a biotechnology company focused on discovering, developing and commercializing innovative therapies addressing major unmet medical needs using targeted biotherapeutics, announced updated data from its Phase 2 clinical trial of NeuVax at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) annual meeting.
The Leuven-based VIB researchers have revealed a mechanism that explains why the anti-tumor activity of specific immune cells called macrophages is suppressed during tumor growth. They have also demonstrated that blocking the protein Nrp1 can restore this anti-tumor immune response.
Pharmacyclics LLC today highlighted results from a sub-analysis of the Phase III RESONATE™ (PCYC-1112) trial, which found that previously-treated patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) who adhered to the recommended 420 mg dose of IMBRUVICA® (ibrutinib) experienced improved progression-free survival (PFS; the primary endpoint) as assessed by an Independent Review Committee (IRC), compared to patients who took lower doses or missed doses, regardless of high-risk genetic factors.
People who live near livestock or in livestock farming communities may be at greater risk of acquiring, Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA), according to a new study led by an international team of researchers from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, the Dutch Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) and VU University Medical Center in Amsterdam.
Despite evidence that cervical cancer screening saves lives, about eight million women ages 21 to 65 years have not been screened for cervical cancer in the past five years, according to a new Vital Signs report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. More than half of new cervical cancer cases occur among women who have never or rarely been screened.
