Discovery Laboratories, Inc. today announced that the Company has been awarded Phase I of a Fast Track Small Business Innovation Research Grant (SBIR) from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to support the development of the Company's program for aerosolizing KL4 surfactant for neonatal respiratory distress syndrome (RDS).
Medtronic announced today that the company was named a 2010 Medical Device Excellence Award winner for excellence in medical device design for its Hydrodebrider System, manufactured by the company's Ear Nose and Throat business unit.
Sucampo Pharmaceuticals, Inc. announced that it, together with R-Tech Ueno, Ltd., Sucampo AG, and Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited and certain affiliates of Takeda, has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Anchen Pharmaceuticals, Inc., which had filed Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to market a generic version of AMITIZA (lubiprostone) oral capsules, and certain affiliates of Anchen.
An observational study of 826 patients with stage III colon cancer showed that those who consumed two ounces or more of nuts per week had a 42% lower chance of cancer recurrence and 57% lower chance of death than those who did not eat nuts.
Wis. Gov. Scott Walker officially announced on Wednesday that he will not implement a state-based health exchange or accept federal funding for it. Meanwhile, in Minnesota, a government task force has begun debating a list of basic principles for that state's health care exchange.
