The University of Massachusetts Amherst and Brigham and Women's Hospital announced today the launch of the new Massachusetts AI and Technology Center for Connected Care in Aging and Alzheimer's Disease (MassAITC), which seeks to improve in-home care for older adults and individuals with Alzheimer's disease, thanks to a grant from the National Institute on Aging (NIA), which is part of the National Institutes of Health.
The right way is to strengthen it, closing coverage gaps while also bringing down costs by improving care and reducing waste and fraud. The president's fiscal framework would put the program on even more solid ground in the future.
A single embryonic stem cell can develop into more than 200 specialized cell types that make up our body. This maturation process is called differentiation and is tightly regulated. If the regulation is lost, specialized cells cannot develop correctly during development. In adulthood, the specialized cells may forget their identity and develop into cancer cells.
While Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R) has earned "widespread praise" for the state's "first-of-its-kind" law requiring all state residents to have health insurance by July 2007, the next governor will "shoulder much of the responsibility for whether the law succeeds," the Boston Globe reports.
