Bayer HealthCare has entered into an exclusive license agreement with Isis Pharmaceuticals, Inc. on ISIS-FXIRx, an antisense investigational drug in clinical development for the prevention of thrombosis. Under the agreement Bayer will further develop and commercialize ISIS-FXIRx in areas of high unmet medical need.
Adults with Type 2 diabetes achieve better blood glucose (sugar) control two years after undergoing laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy than do patients who receive standard medical diabetes care without this weight loss surgery, a new study finds.
Mayo Clinic researchers report that freezing kidney tumors through percutaneous cryoablation shows promise for patients who are not good candidates for surgery.
Between 1998 and 2007, psychotropic medications were associated with 429 adverse drug reactions in Danish children under the age of 17. Researchers from the University of Copenhagen's Faculty of Pharmaceutical Studies have published an article in the open access journal BMC Research Notes concluding that more than half of the 429 cases were serious and several involved birth defects, such as birth deformities and severe withdrawal syndromes.
Velocity Pharmaceutical Development, LLC ("VPD") and Tigercat Pharma, Inc., ("Tigercat") announced today the submission of an Investigational New Drug (IND) application to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for VPD-737 for the treatment of chronic pruritus.
