Sixty-four years ago, James Watson and Francis Crick described the now-iconic double helix structure of DNA.
In the U.S., one out of eight women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. The earlier the breast cancer is found, the more likely a woman will live a normal life, said Stephen Rose, M.D., a breast radiologist at Memorial Hermann Memorial City.
A quarter of newly diagnosed cancer patients 65 or older are survivors who had a prior cancer – often preventing them from participating in clinical trials, researchers from UT Southwestern's Simmons Cancer Center have found.
Whether little boys prefer to play with trucks or dolls depends more on the family environment than genetics, while genetics seems to play a larger role in little girls' preferences for dolls over trucks, according to a study published in the July/August 2005 issue of the journal Child Development.
