Thirty-one veterinarians and veterinary students have just completed the Maddie's Online Graduate Certificate in Shelter Medicine. These new certificate holders are now the first in the world to complete the fully online program offered by the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine.
Studies have shown that children with autism often struggle socially and now new research suggests that a corresponding lack of motor skills - including catching and throwing - may further contribute to that social awkwardness.
Sixty-six percent of publicly-insured children were unable to get a doctor's appointment for medical conditions requiring outpatient specialty care including diabetes and seizures, while children with identical symptoms and private insurance were turned away only 11 percent of the time, according to an audit study of 273 specialty physician practices in Cook County, Ill.
University of Huddersfield lecturer Dr David Swann's design for a syringe that changes colour in order to deter its re-use - with the possibility of spreading dangerous infection - has already earned global interest. Now the project's profile will be raised higher still, following its shortlisting for a second major design award.
